Learning Objectives: This four-day course will satisfy the State of Tennessee, State of North Carolina, and State of Georgia expanded function training requirements to allow registered dental hygienists to administer local anesthesia under the supervision of a licensed dentist. Course content provides a review of knowledge on the uses and potential complications of administering local anesthesia.
Topics include the local anesthesia armamentarium, neuroanatomy and neurophysiology, pharmacology of vasoconstrictors, mandibular and maxillary anatomy, the trigeminal nerve, possible complications, post-treatment instructions, and accurate record keeping.
